Pacific vs. Eurasian Century – Discussion with Felipe Fernández-Armesto

On 16 May 2024, the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA) hosted Felipe Fernández-Armesto, historian and professor at the University of Notre Dame, who delivered a public lecture titled “Pacific vs. Eurasian Century.”

In his talk, he raised fundamental questions such as whether Eurasia or the Pacific region will become the gravitational center of the 21st century, whether geopolitical dilemmas will in fact shape the coming century, and whether it makes sense at all to think about human history in terms of centuries.
