New Leadership at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs
Effective 1 August 2026, Dr. Botond Feledy has been appointed Director General of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs. Dr. András Rácz has been appointed Deputy Director General for Research and Scientific Affairs.
Dr. Botond Feledy is a foreign policy expert, commentator, and researcher specializing in Euro-Atlantic security, information warfare, and cybersecurity. He previously served as Head of the European Leadership Programme in Brussels and Managing Director of Red Snow Consulting. He has taught international relations at the Faculty of Law of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Pázmány Péter Catholic University, and the Dijon campus of Sciences Po. He is also well known in Hungary as a foreign policy analyst, podcast host, and author of the HetiFeledy international affairs newsletter. His professional achievements have received wide recognition, including his selection to the New Europe 100 list in 2017, which highlights one hundred individuals shaping the future of Central and Eastern Europe. He also participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the U.S. Department of State.
Dr. András Rácz is a security policy expert and specialist on Russia and the post-Soviet region. For more than fifteen years, his research has focused on Euro-Atlantic security and the political and military developments of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Prior to joining the Institute, he was a researcher at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and served as a senior analyst at several Hungarian and international research institutes. As Deputy Director General, he is responsible for overseeing the Institute’s research and scientific activities and for further strengthening its professional work.
The Hungarian Institute of International Affairs aims to further strengthen its role in supporting Hungary’s foreign policy decision-making through expert analysis, expand its international professional partnerships, and enhance its engagement with society.
The leadership transition is currently underway in cooperation with the Institute’s previous management, ensuring the continuity of its operations and professional activities.
