EU Enlargement on the Horizon? Montenegro and Albania on the Road to the EU
As the European Union seeks to reinvigorate its enlargement agenda, Montenegro and Albania have emerged as the frontrunners among the Western Balkan candidates. This panel will assess the outcomes of the recent EU–Western Balkans Summit and examine the prospects for further integration in the region. How close are Montenegro and Albania to EU membership, and what obstacles remain on their path to accession? What political, economic, and security implications would their membership have for both the Western Balkans and the European Union? Bringing together leading experts, the discussion will explore whether the current momentum can translate into tangible enlargement results in the years ahead.
