Ferenc Németh is an international relations expert with over a decade of experience in applied and academic research, journalism, and work with European and public institutions across Europe, the Western Balkans, and North America. His fields of expertise include the Western Balkans, EU enlargement policy, and regional security. As Senior Research Fellow and Program Coordinator for the Southeast Europe Research Center, Ferenc is responsible for leading the Institute’s research activities on the Western Balkans.
Ferenc was a contracted external researcher at Political Capital (2025–2026), worked as a Program Manager and Research Fellow at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (2019–2024), at the Press Office of EULEX Kosovo (2019), and at Figyelő (2016–2017).
Ferenc was a Denton Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) in Washington, D.C. (2024), participated in the Transatlantic Security Initiative of the International Republican Institute (2024), and took part in the International Visitor Leadership Program of the U.S. Department of State (2025).
Ferenc is currently a PhD Candidate at Corvinus University of Budapest. He was a Fulbright Visiting Researcher in the Department of Government at Georgetown University (2026), a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for European and Eurasian Studies at the University of Toronto (2025), and conducted doctoral research at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (2024). He holds degrees in international relations from Eötvös Loránd University and Corvinus University of Budapest and undertook postgraduate studies in Southeast European studies at the University of Graz and the University of Belgrade.
