Zsolt TREMBECZKI

Research field

domestic politics and foreign relations of India; international relations and security in South Asia and the Indo-Pacific; competing global infrastructure development initiatives

For Zsolt, professional interest in South Asia is a family tradition. Members of his family have lived and worked in India for several years, and these memories have had a strong influence on him from a young age. A long-standing dream came true when he had the opportunity to do an internship in Delhi and Eastern India in 2016-2017.

After completing his B.A. degree at Corvinus University of Budapest, he obtained his M.A. degree at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Currently, he is working towards a Ph.D. in International Studies at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. After some experience in the Brussels-based consultancy sector, Zsolt joined the Institute as a Research Intern in 2021, became an Associate Research Fellow in 2022, and started working as a full-time Research Fellow in 2023. His areas of research include the international relations, security, and geopolitics of South Asia and the Indo-Pacific; India’s balancing in the emerging ‘bi-multipolar’ world order; India’s domestic politics, party system, and economic reforms; and competing global and inter-regional infrastructure development initiatives (e.g., BRI, IMEC, etc.).
