Through Business to Integration
In the last years a possible accession of the Western Balkan countries to the EU was part of a wider discussion at the EU level as well as in Germany and Hungary. A faster and stronger development of the region is needed in order to avoid further impoverishment and migration from the Western Balkan. Recently, Germany and Hungary have increased their investment and trade promotion in order to help the economic development of the region. Hungary introduced closer financial and institutional cooperation with the Western Balkan region. Further steps have been taken from Germany through the implementing of the Berlin process which sets the agenda for European-Western Balkan relations under the consideration of connectivity and economic cooperation.
The third KAS-IFAT Western Balkan Conference will concentrate on these topics, including the analysis of the current socio-economic development of the region and will deal with the question how the European Union, Germany and Hungary could contribute more efficiently to economic development.
