MKI Report – Written by Péter Pál Kránitz
Hungarian-Armenian relations are deep-rooted both historically and culturally, while interstate relations are being restrengthened as both parties are committed to building cooperation based on trust and partnership. After a turbulent decade during which there were no diplomatic relations between the two countries, Hungary expressed willingness to open a new chapter in interstate relations, which was welcomed and well received by Yerevan. Due to this openness and the efforts of both sides, ties between Armenia and Hungary are friendly once again. Thanks to the Hungarian strategy of connectivity, in which Hungary seeks to be a beacon of peace and to maintain a pragmatic dialogue not only with Armenia but with other countries in the region as well, Hungary may contribute to confidence-building or even peacemaking in the South Caucasus.
