The Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA) organized a panel discussion on 13 July. Our guests were Péter Siklósi, former deputy state secretary for defence policy and Péter Stepper, senior expert of HIIA. The moderator was Péter Wagner, senior expert of HIIA.

The discussion has been revolving around the topics of the NATO summit, the chance of Ukraine’s NATO accession, the ratification of Swedish accession documents by Türkye, and the most important tasks ahead of the military alliance. The more than 90 paragraphs long communique contained numerous statements important for national defence forces. One of the most significant change is the increase of rapid reactions forces up to 300.000 troops, and the NATO must be ready to protect every square inch of its own territory.
