The Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs organised a joint conference in Jerusalem on the 3rd of June, 2019. Participants of the event entitled “In Search of Stability and Development – Common Challenges and Solutions between Central Europe and Israel” evaluated the relations between Israel and our region in the light of the results of the European Parliamentary elections.
Several topics were covered during the discussion including the evaluation of the European common foreign and security policy, the interpretation of the main cleavages inside the European Union, the potential role of East Mediterranean gas fields in the Central European energy market, as well as the challenges related to terrorism and migration. Besides our researchers, namely Nikolett Garai and Máté Szalai, the Hungarian delegation consisted of Károly Grúber from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Levente Benkő, the ambassador of Hungary in Tel-Aviv, as well as Zsolt Barthel-Rúzsa and Csaba Faragó from the Századvég Foundation. The event was organised in the framework of the Hungarian cultural year in Israel.
