Dr. Gergely Salát is a China expert, senior research fellow at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs, head of the Department of Chinese Studies at Pázmány Péter Catholic University, associate professor at Eötvös Loránd University, and chair of the Oriental Studies Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. From the age of 17, he spent four years in China, attending a high school in Beijing and later studying law. He graduated from the Chinese Studies program at ELTE. While his early research focused on Chinese legal history, in the past decade his main area of interest has been Chinese domestic and foreign politics. He occasionally translates literary works as well. He runs his own YouTube channel, his interviews and media appearances can be followed on his Facebook page, and his publications are available on MTMT and Academia.edu.
