Gábor József Búr is a habilitated associate professor and was head of the Department of Modern and Contemporary Universal History between 2014 and 2019. He graduated as an archaeologist-historian in Leningrad, and upon his return to Hungary, he immediately joined the African Research Program (AKP). He conducted research in South Africa and has authored numerous books and publications related to the continent. He is a frequent guest speaker at events on African topics and editor-in-chief of the journals African Studies and Five Continents.
