Szidónia Lángné Petruska earned her first master’s degree in 2003 in geography at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. During her studies she spent a year as a visiting student in Mannheim, Germany. She later completed the Central European Studies master’s program at the Andrássy Gyula German-Speaking University of Budapest. She began her doctoral studies in 2017 at the National University of Public Service, where she obtained her PhD in military science in 2023. In her dissertation, she applied security geography methodologies to explore the specific characteristics of Kosovo’s complex security environment. After working in environmental public administration and then at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in the field of science policy, between 2019 and 2025 she served as an analyst in the fields of defence and foreign affairs. In this role, she prepared analytical materials for government decision-makers. Her responsibilities primarily covered foreign, security, and defence policy issues of Western Balkan countries. In 2024–2025, she pursued research within the framework of the PNBSZ Scientific Innovation Forum. In November 2025, she joined the team of the Balkan Institute of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs. She holds the title of Expert of the Hungarian Association of Military Science and is a board member of the Association of Reconnaissance Officers.
